Dr. Prabhat Kumar Singh did BSc (Engineering) in Civil Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh in 1986. He obtained ME and PhD in Civil Engineering with specialization in Environmental Engineering from IIT Roorkee and IIT Kanpur in 1988 and 2000, respectively. He joined Water Resources Department, Govt. of Bihar in July, 1987 and continued till June 2004. Since June 2004, he is a Reader in the Department of Civil Engineering, IT-BHU, Varanasi.

Apart from his main research in the area of ground water quality monitoring and control technologies, currently his research involves Environmental Decision Support System development using remote sensing and GIS; Environmental Impact Assessment and Management Plan of development projects; Solid Waste Management and the effect of leachate on soil properties and ground water quality.

Dr. Singh has authored a number of research publications in peer reviewed journals and conferences. He has guided 5 MTech students and currently, 1 PhD student is working under his supervision. He is a member of the Bhaktivedanta Institute, Kolkata and Indian Water Resource Society, Roorkee.
