Prof. B.S. Murty started his career in
Metallurgy with a Diploma (1983) in Government Polytechnic, Vijayawada and got his BE from VRCE, Nagpur
(1986). He obtained his ME (1988) and PhD (1992) from IISc,
Bangalore.
After serving IIT Kharagpur during 1992 – 2004, he is currently a Professor of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, IIT Madras. He is the
recipient of Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award for 2007. His fields of interest are nano materials and other advanced materials.
